Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc - 2009

Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Winery Story

Spy Valley Wines is situated on the sunny southern side of Marlborough's Wairau Valley, nestled on the terraces of the Omaka river are the v... (more...)ineyards of Johnson Estate. Spy Valley is a colloquial name for the Waihopai Valley and is derived from the presence of a satellite communications monitoring station (spy base) nearby, part of the Echelon Global Network. The Spy Valley wines are vineyard designated and represent winemaker interpretations of site and vintage.

Spy Valley packs an awesome punch with big citrus, and tropical fruit. Aromas include an array of citrus such as orange and grapefruit, the latter being dominant, and a big grapefruit flavor that dissipates into mango and perhaps some star fruit. Wonderful acidity, structure, and balance makes this Sauv Blanc well-rounded. We paired this wine with lemon peppered cat fish, and it couldn’t have been better. Wine Spectator gave it 91 points and it’s a steal at $14. Highly Recommended.
