Winery Story

Taittinger is one of the best of France's newer Champagne houses, having made its debut in 1945 after Pierre Taittinger purchased the Fourne... (more...)aux Champagne house and gave it his own name, Taittinger. Pierre's two sons, Francois and Claude, have sustained the Champagne house's strong growth. Besides making outstanding bubbly, Taittinger is one of the top vineyard owners in Champagne, with more than 600 acres of the best sites under its ownership.

Tasting Note

This lovely champagne is on the sweet side, which makes it perfect for pairing with foods traditionally served with an off-dry wine, such as... (more...) cheese, foie gras and desserts. On the nose the wine is subtle and fresh, with aromas of peach, dried apricot and white flowers offset by notes of bread crust. Crisp acidity and rich mouthfeel characterize the palate, which is dominated by stone and tropical fruit and suggestions of raisins and fruit in syrup. Very decadent!

Richer and fuller than the Brut. Delicious Champagne! It should be noted that this is by no means a sweet wine.

I love this full-bodied bubbly from Taittinger that has a rich, toasted nutty flavor and nice acidity.
