Te Awa Boundary - 2001(W-125)

Te Awa Boundary

Winery Story

Te Awa Farm is a unique place. The full name in Maori - Te Awa o Te Atua - means River of God, a reference to the mysterious subterranean st... (more...)reams over which Te Awa Farm sits, and from which its single estate grown wines draw their sublime character. In 1992 the Lawson family -- longtime grape growers -- established the Hawke's Bay property.

Tasting Note

This is a high quality, high value New World Bordeaux blend. Smooth and lush with aromas of cedar, sweet tobacco, blackberry and a bit of sp... (more...)ice. On the palate, the wine is quite smooth with moderate tannin, a bit of leather and dark berry fruit flavors.1

A little thin. Some time helped. Not worth the price in my view.

Mildly fruity. Gal Friday sez "spicy". Not sure it penetrates though.

I prefer Carbenet, Beaujolais, Bordeaux, and Pinot Noir. Merlot and Zinfandel is my last choice.

Decent wine, dry, but not a huge burst of flavor

Wouldn't buy. Not interesting, needs more body and still remain smooth.

Surprisingly good. Full bodied yet fruity, and not "too" dry.

Very earthy, dry and well balanced. Very smooth with a touch of spice. Excellent with beef.

Medium garnet color, slight spice, earthiness on nose, mild elusive fruit aromas, medium body, very short finish. But it tasted way too earthy after being open four hours. I'm a big fan of earth. I like it beneath my feet. I just don't like it in my mouth. 7-1/2 winehiker points out of 20.
