Trapiche Malbec - 2007
March 13, 2010
I've had a few bottles of Trapiche's regular Malbec that goes for about $7 depending on where you buy it. For a cheap wine, it's not bad at all. Trapiche Oak Cask, which goes for $9 or $10 does not disappoint with aromas of toasted oak and plum. It's garnet in color and flavored with deep plum, oak and black currant with just a small hint of vanilla on the finish. Quite tannic and fuller bodied than its regular Malbec. If you like oak, this will not disappoint you as it spent 12 months in the cask. This is an all around great value, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy Malbecs from Argentina. Pair with a savory beef stew, steak, or BBQ.
