Tschermonegg Oberglanzberg Sauvignon Blanc - 2002(W-1180)

Tschermonegg Oberglanzberg Sauvignon Blanc

Winery Story

Tschermonegg's vineyards are the highest in Austria's Southern Styria. The winery is comprised of 30 acres planted 90% white, 8% red and 2% ... (more...)sweet with an annual production of 8,330 cases. The vineyards are situated more than 550 meters above sea level which puts them above the fog that rolls in, thus enhancing the quality and health of the grapes to the absolute maximum. The wine cellar boasts state-of-the-art equipment that allows them to unite the very best of traditional philosophies and know-how to modern technical expertise.

Tasting Note

Oberglanzberg is our best vineyard, and it is growing on very sandy soil. Sauvignon Blanc is one of the oldest grapes cultivated in Styria; ... (more...)it is the grape for which this region is famed. With a bit of air, this wine will open up fully and then stay open for a couple of hours, showing notes of vanilla and apricot. Starts incredibly opulent and massive with a ripe nose. Pure cassis and then elements of siliques. Shows the same on the palate. Spectacular. Mouth-filling and dense, yet lively and full of finesse. A long finish. Convincing on every level.
