Velich's planted only white wine grapes in his vineyard (45% Chardonnay, 45% Welschriesling, and 10% split between Muskat-Ottonel and Bouvier); it yields an annual production of 5000 cases (75% dry white, 25% sweet). The village is surrounded by many small ponds which create the microclimate magic here: they act as reflectors, beaming the sunlight onto the vines, ripening the grapes fat and full.

Tasting Note

Aged in small oak barrels, this easy drinking Chardonnay has big fruit overtones. Darscho, Hungarian lingo for “warm lake,” is the name ... (more...)of one of the small ponds (called “puddles”) that surround the nearby Neusiedler Lake. These puddles create a micro-climate that greatly influences the Seewinkel vineyards, where this wine is born.

Did not rate this as sweet as it is tangy...Nicely astringent...not too oaky
