According to French AOC regulations, only five types of grapes may be used to make Red Bordeaux. These are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.
The three white varieties used are Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Muscadelle.
