Winery Story

The Bouwland winery is owned and run by farm workers, who, through an exciting empowerment project, bought the majority of the shares in the... (more...) property. It is situated on the famous, historic slopes where the Stellenbosch Simonsberg region delivers arguably the finest wines in South Africa; Bouwland has 56 hectares of prime vineyards comprising noble red varietals. The inspiration behind the project is to create true agricultural and economic empowerment for future generations of the community that has been part ofthe country’s wine culture since the first vines were planted in 1659.
