Winery Story
The vineyards of the Pfalz Palatinate, protected from cold westerly winds by the Haardt Mountains, are located on the gentle slopes borderin... (more...)g the Rhine Valley. The almost Mediterranean climate and a certain southern flair characterize the landscape and the character of the happy people who live here. The Romans already recognized these advantageous conditions when they planted the first vines in this area. They called the Palatinate “God’s own wine cellar.” This beautiful country, where chestnuts and even figs, lemons and kiwi fruit ripen, is also the home of the Messmer wine estate. In 1960 Elisabeth and Herbert Messmer bought an old, traditional wine estate in Burrweiler and founded today’s Messmer Estate. Motivated by a love of their profession and noble wines, they created a successful estate with the best sites in Burrweiler. Their son Gregor and his wife, Sieglinde, the second generation, have been working as part of the team since 1984. With knowledge and sensitivity, they direct a very engaged and qualified team.
