This is Zin! Opens with a huge burst of bright berry fruit and spices. Powerful and intense, it tastes rich and complex, with very extracted fruit and fancy tannins. Great mouthfeel, really delicious. 1 Note

With an oaky edge to the peach, apricot and orange cream flavors, this Chard is tasty, although a little soft. It sure is ripe, all the way through the spicy finish. 1 Note

Here’s a big, ripe, creamy, oaky Chardonnay. The oak stars, contributing flamboyant vanilla, char and woody spices, but there’s plenty of fruit flavor ranging from apples and peaches all the way to papayas. 1 Note

Dark purple in color, this wine begins with earthy, cardboard aromas and turns dense and Port-like in the mouth. The palate sensations are of tannins, acidity, weight and heat. The finish is thin and alcoholic. 1 Note

This is a really dry, crisply acidic wine that has some of those gooseberry flavors that mark New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. It’s strongly flavored and spicy, and needs bold tastes to balance it out, like olive tapenade, harissa, and things marinated in ginger, garlic and soy sauce. 1 Note

A fine young estate Chardonnay from these growers-turned-producers in the heart of the valley. Displays clean and pure apple and peach flavors, and enough oak to season with vanilla and woody spices. Balanced and pretty, and a good match for salmon or crab. 1 Note

Another sweet, oaky Chardonnay joins the ever-growing line. Not that it’s an indifferent wine. This family produces nothing but impeccably tailored wines, and this one is among the best of class at this price point. —S.H. 1 Note
