As the Lindemans Bin series has slipped a bit, the Reserve tier has taken over the spot in the lineup, offering solid value. This is well-made, commercially styled Shiraz, offering all of what consumers have come to expect: jammy berry flavors framed by vanilla and chocolate. Turns fresh on the finish. Drink now. 1 Note

There’s a lot to like about this wine: It’s a medium, food-friendly size; its plum base has compelling accents of bramble and herb; it isn’t at all sweet and hey, look at the price. This 60-40 Cab-Shiraz blend has aromas of black olive and eucalyptus and taut plum and black cherry flavors. Its chalky, claylike mouthfeel is Coonawarra, all the way. I'm glad this wine is as affordable as it is—it will help value seekers appreciate regional differences among Australian wines. 1 Note

With concentrated, nectarlike pear, melon and floral aromas, it smells nice and feminine, yet more like a Muscat than a Chardonnay. On the palate you get no-frills fruit cocktail and a dry, crisp mouthfeel. Finishes spicy. Just the ticket for an apéritif. 1 Note

When a wine’s flavors are this vibrant, thoughts about texture and ageability may fall by the wayside. Juicy blackberry, blueberry and plum is joined on the palate by mushroom, chocolate and oak. There’s a lot going on in this tasty red. 1 Note

Medium and smooth in the mouth, the Cab’s so prevalent here you’d think there was more than 52% here. There’s sturdy blackberry and black plum fruit on the palate, plus some eucalyptus and toast; dry, oaky tannins finish it off. A very good, though textbook, sort of wine. - D.M. 1 Note

The initial impression from the bouquet is that you are in the middle of a barnyard. Fruit just isn’t part of the aromatic show. Cherry and leather dominate the palate, which has ample tannic grip and the full allotment of spiciness. Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t sing as a whole. 1 Note

Here’s an understated Riesling, one with subdued flavors and a pretty mineral-flour feel to it. Smells pretty, like pastry dough and talc; flavors are minerally, with some light peach fuzz and citrus peel flavors. On the dinner table, it would complement just about any cream-based sauce. 1 Note

This red is soft and so easy to drink. Spice, black pepper and clove aromas and flavors couch mixed plum fruit on the palate. Not intense, but just the ticket for everyday drinking. Imported by Foster’s Wine Estates Americas. 1 Note
