Smells a little funky, with a meaty, raw beef aroma on top of scents of green apples. Tastes thin and watery, with a suggested of appley citrus fruit flavor. The finish turns tart and dry. 1 Note

Continues this winery’s streak of offering a good value under this label. The wine is dry and silky, with pleasant cola, rhubarb, coffee and cherry flavors that are offset by crisp acids. 1 Note

Martin Ray’s second label is proving to be a good value. This Zin is exuberantly ripe in black cherry fruit, with a rich earthiness. It’s a bit sharp, but that will actually help to stand up to olive oil, cheese, butter and meats. 1 Note

A little raw and green, but there are some Chardy flavors of peaches, cream and spices, and the wine is dry and creamy. 1 Note

The bigger the ship the slower it turns, they say. Nevertheless, the new generation at Gallo has done wonders in a short time with both wine and image. Another winner here, with a rich core of juicy Russian River fruit framed nicely by tasty oak. Solid, persistent fruit flavors continue through the lengthy finish. 1 Note

Tight and lean, a citrusy wine of high acidity that scours the palate and feels clean and refreshing through the tart finish. Unoaked. This austere wine will be good with shellfish or goat cheese appetizers. 1 Note

My bottle was sulfury, which made evaluating the wine difficult. After a few minutes, the smell blew off, revealing a simple, fruity, soft dry wine. 1 Note

Here’s a light-bodied, silky rosé, with herb, tobacco and cherry flavors and good, cleansing acidity. It seems a little sweet, but that may be due to the fruity, vanilla-y finish. 1 Note
