A dark, inky wine with the explosive punch of a big Syrah. Dark berries (blackberry, currant) on the nose leads to a fruity palate. Well developed tannins round off the finish. 1 Note

Very integrated, finely textured, good red fruit but not overbearingly so. Good for when company is over - gets along with wine drinkers and non-wine drinkers alike. Excellent find at just around $10 a bottle. 1 Note

Rich flavors included pronounced oak and nice, tropical fruit such as pineapple. It had nice, crisp acidity and just left a refreshing aftertaste. I was not disappointed. I was bit worried that it may not have been enough to overtake the ham and pungent Swiss cheese filling of chicken cordon bleu, but they well together. If you’re in the mood for a good California-styled oaky Chardonnay, then save yourself a few dollars and go with San Elias. $8
