Infantado has produced a 1995 full of ripe tannins, powerful black fruits and sweetness. There is a layer of dryness but the ripeness and sweetness means the wine is ready to drink now. 1 Note

Vincent Bouchard, owner of Tedo, divides his time between the Douro and Napa Valley. This small property is located where the River Tedo joins the Douro, downriver from Pinhão. This wine is still young, dominated by fresh black fruits, firm tannins and layers of dryness. It is certainly destined for a 15 year aging. 1 Note

Foz, a classic vintage for some shippers, was bottled as a single quinta by CÃ lem. It is solid, mature but still with a good tannic mouthfeel. It's not a heavyweight, but the fruit has the potential to last another 5-10 years. 1 Note

A medium-weight perfumed wine, with soft fruit and mature tannins. The lavender and wild flower perfumes are followed by flavors of sweet fruit, finished by a shot of dryness. 1 Note

Crusted Port is an intermediate category between LBV and vintage. It is bottled with a crust or sediment, allowing it to age in the bottle like a vintage Port, but is not released until three years after bottling. Graham’s Crusted is still young, showing bright, peppery fruit, ripeness and dryness along with sweet black flavors and vibrant acidity to finish. 1 Note

Quinta do Vesuvio is owned by the Symington family but managed separately from the family’s shipping brands (Dow, Graham, Warre). Vesuvio’s immense terraces and vast open lagares for fermentation, have produced a suitably dense, dark, brooding 2000, perfumed with violets and bursting with solid tannins. This is a great vintage wine.- 1 Note

This really fits the bill for an easy-drinking, rich style of Port. Packed with aromatic fruit, herbs, chocolate and tannins, it combines sweetness with ripeness and structure. There is a dark, dry aftertaste that adds complexity. 1 Note

From the Vista Alegre vineyard in the Pinhão valley, this Port is powerfully perfumed, with great black-cherry flavors and acidity. It has good structure, but is generally relatively simple and easy to appreciate. 1 Note

At almost 10 years of age, this mammoth effort is just starting to budge along the path to maturity. The nose is rich with scents of baking spices; the palate shows plenty of plum and blackberry fruit, but is more about earth, spice and raw power. This tremendously deep, powerful and structured wine should be even better by 2010, with a plateau of maturity that should extend out to 2040 or beyond. 1 Note

The most forward of the trio of Vargellas Vinha Velhas, the 1997 may be approachable by 2010, but should last until 2030 or beyond. It's lush, yet powerfuly structured, filled with a complex array of flavors that includes earth, tobacco, tea and gobs of briary, berry-scented fruit. 1 Note
