Bollinger Champagne Blend -1999 (WE-91209)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

With this vintage, there are signs of a wine that is maturing fast. That’s the initial impression. But at the same time, there are wonderful dry fruits, minerality and sweet hazelnuts, all finely in balance. The layers get more complex, bringing in toast as well as acidity. Almost ready, but worth aging. 1 Note

Gosset Champagne Blend -1999 (WE-91219)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

If this seems soft at first, that’s the year. Soon enough, the hallmark Gosset acidity and minerality show through, with the addition of spicy pear and some toast. They give a tightness to the wine, a coiled spring effect, that shows through all that rich fruit right to the aftertaste. 1 Note

Moët & Chandon Champagne Blend -1995 (WE-91223)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A re-release from the 1995 vintage, this is a wine that shows exceptional richness. It also shows maturity and toastiness, a style that historically has appealed to American and British Champagne collectors. But it is not just for collecting, because this wine is delicious, its secondary flavors of hazelnuts, toast and acidity making it an excellent food wine. 1 Note

Louis de Sacy Champagne Blend -1986 (WE-13325)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Unusual, mature and richly aromatic, with dried fruit and flower aromas, and a deep broth-marinade note. It's rather sedate on the palate, with modest bead and mousse, but the soy, plum and burnt sugar flavors are complex, like mature Pinot Noir. Finishes slightly sweet with a smoky, ashy note. 1 Note

De Venoge Champagne Blend -1993 (WE-39435)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A mature wine, which is now perhaps a little too old. It has fine toastiness, certainly, but the structure has gone and it is now very mature. Enjoy it for this character, but it was probably better three years ago. 1 Note

A ripe, balanced wine which is showing some good, toasty bottle age. De Venoge Vintage has a Pinot-dominated blend which ages the wine, but also gives elegance. The wine has flavors of white fruits, crisp apples and fresh croissants to give good complexity and richness. 1 Note
