Simply put, this one is weedy and green. Just the basics in terms of plum fruit and chocolate rise from the depths. The finish is dry and oaky, with some vanilla flavor. Colchagua is known for ripe, vibrant fruit, but this has more asparagus than a vegetable garden. 1 Note

From a winery in the heart of Napa that has long been overshadowed by flashier competitors. Maybe this wine shows why. It has that Napa pedigree of fruit, but there are disturbing notes of imbalance. Some of the flavors are ripe and juicy; others are overripe and pruny, while still others are immature and green or stalky. The result is disappointing. 1 Note

The “legs” on this wine are thick and gluey, the visible sign of enormous extract. One sniff and taste confirm that. This is a big, sturdy wine, stuffed with wild berry flavors, and very dry. But beware, the tannins are outsized. Have it with red meat-based foods or age for up to a decade. 1 Note
