Vanilla, ripe pear and dry citrus aromas and flavors highlight this featherbed of a wine. The palate’s soft, almost sappy feel, round melon fruit and mild spices are easy to like. It’s not cloying or tacky, just don’t look for spine or structure. 1 Note

Opens light and dry with peach, green apple and herb aromas. A tart and lemony Chardonnay, it’s not at all fat or new-worldy. It displays the faintly bitter, almost quinine-like element some Italian whites show and closes crisply with an anise note. Formerly a Chardonnay-Pinot Grigio blend, Libaio is now 100% Chardonnay, while the Pinot Grigio is bottled as Lumina. 1 Note

This straightforward apple and toast-dominated Chardonnay has medium weight and decent length. It's decidedly mainstream, a bit too one-dimensionally so. But it's still tasty in that mode, and oak-lovers will savor the spicy wood that comes up very strongly on the close. Again, good, but here a more reserved use of oak might yield a wine of more nuance and better balance. 1 Note

The nose starts out herbal and rowdy, but then settles down to offer basic pear and apple aromas. The palate is all pineapple and other racy fruits, but it’s also sweet and a bit discordant. The long, driving finish doesn’t really hit the mark, and it’s a bit heavy and drying right through the last impression. 1 Note

What’s nice about this wine is the acidity: It burns; it sparkles; it makes your mouth water and prepares it for yummy food. It’s not all about fruit, oak and lees—a meal in itself. The flavors are of apples and peaches dusted with pepper and cinnamon. —S.H. 1 Note

A pillowy and tropical Chard that doesn’t get sloppy soft or overly tart and hard. Toasted marshmallow, pineapple and banana aromas; lightly caramelized pineapple dusted with cinnamon flavors. Finishes with a smoky edge. Best Buy. 1 Note

There are some Chard elements in this rustic, countrified wine. The apple and peach flavors, with oaky vanilla overtones, are familiar. But itÕs a rough wine, with some odd, vegetal qualities. Satisfactory, if youÕre not very fussy. 1 Note
