The Claret blend is 44% Merlot, 40% Cabernet and 16% Malbec—tannic and herbal, almost like a Chilean red. A good wine to go with a grilled steak, which can cut through the tannins with some fat. Flavors are balanced, fruit is light and leafy, and there is little or no new oak influence. 1 Note

This Claret combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc into a sturdy, tannic, slightly sweaty wine with only the barest hints of black fruits. The flavors seem focused on leaf and stem, especially the tannins, which do not taste quite ripe. 1 Note

This is a big, hard, tannic wine. It’s so buttoned up, the question is whether it will age. Most of the signs say yes. It’s gigantically rich in blackberries, cassis and chocolate, with a berried sweetness accented by the caramel of toasted oak. Acidity is just fine. On the other hand, the alcohol is notable, giving it peppery heat. A very fine, flashy, impressive wine, but its future is obscure. 1 Note

Pride Mountain Claret -2006 (WE-111326)

The Merlot that dominates this wine shows in the wealth of red and black cherries, but one-third Cabernet Sauvignon contributes its telltale signature of blackberries and black currants. New oak, however, dominates in the wine’s youth, giving caramel and roasted marshmallow flavors. Very fine, very concentrated and intense, and in need of cellaring. Give it until 2011, and drink for the next 6–8 years. 1 Note

I am going to have to assume that this is for Coppola's Rosso, a wine that they issued in 2004 and 2005 I do believe. It has suddenly become scarce in the last six months, so I'm not sure if this is issued anymore, but I've had several bottles of this and currently have one in my wine rack at home. THis wine is incredibly good. Nice plum taste, very rich, lots of body. One of my favorites. I always grab a bottle when I see it. 1 Note
