Delightful, affordable, Italian white from the "boot" of Italy (Puglia). This was the first time that I've tried a Malvasia/ Greco di Tufo blend. It offered terrific minerality, very food friendly acidity, (perfect with A16 Restaurant's signature squid ink pasta, arugula salad, & roast chicken). and a round mouthfeel.

Yellow, golden color with a petrol and fava bean nose. The darker yellow color suggests the presence of possibe oak. It is confirmed through the soft, silky texture on the palate. But it seems as though the texture is all you get with this wine. Any fruit is muted and there is a lingering astringent feel in the back of the throat. It´s a nice refreshing wine but that finish kind of kills it for me. To combat this, try pairing with a creamy sauce like a grilled chicken fettucine alfredo and a side of steamed broccoli.

Deep bright 18k yellow with aromas of cooked pineapple and toasted nuts. On the palate, the silky texture delivers flavors of green apple, chestnuts and butter. The finish is lingering, but kind of funky...a great 'fall' wine that would pair lovely with butternut squash soup toped with a sauteed melody of caramelized onions, crushed walnuts and green apple.

My pick for wine of the Oktoberfest month quite appropriately has common characteristics of a great Belgian ale. In fact, if I'd tasted it blind and told it was a beer, I just may have been tricked. This biodynamically made wine is orange in color and has a bit of effervescence. I found it both refreshing on its own, but it also paired nicely with light pasta dishes.
