An inky wine that sports a core of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, spice, herbs, tar and licorice flavors. Tannins are quite firm yet supple enough. A wellmade wine from an unusual variety that should age quite nicely. 1 Note

The winery says this is the first time anyone has bottled this varietal in Washington; they get no argument from me. It's young, grapey, effusive and loose-knit, and not for everyone. But if you like gregarious, slightly rustic, spicy/tangy red wines, with plenty of fresh fruit, give it a try. 1 Note

Earth, herbs, and plums mark this dry wine, with pretty hefty tannins and soft acids. It’s a bit one-dimensional but earns extra points for the rich texture and smooth, spicy finish. 1 Note

Mourvèdre is almost never a great wine in California, but a good one in the right hands, as is this dry, rich, stylish version. An interesting mélange of grapey, cherry-berry flavors infused with spices, herbs, chocolate and earth, wrapped in soft, gentle tannins. 1 Note

A bit sharp, but otherwise a nice dinner wine, with the medium-bodied, silky texture of Pinot Noir. The flavors are of cherries, cola, cocoa and tobacco, and the finish is dry and spicy. 1 Note

This Mourvèdre has a lovely nose of chocolate and mint and is both soft and layered. Flavors of blackberry are jammy and integrated, and there’s a facet of spice, all of which creates an easy-drinking and accessible wine. A softer wine with character. 1 Note

An interesting and complex wine, dry and medium-bodied, and with soft, sweet tannins. The flavors suggest raspberries, cherries, chocolate and herbs, and there’s a soft sweetness to the finish, as opposed to the harder feel of Syrah. 1 Note

Soft in acids and thick in tannins, this wine is fully dry. It’s sort of generic, with its berry and cocoa flavors and streak of oak. It’s well made, but could be almost any medium-bodied red. 1 Note

Dry and smooth as satin, this Mourvèdre satisfies for its lush texture and complex flavors. Cherry, blackberry and smoky plum fruit is balanced with earthier tones of mushrooms, game and leather, leading to a long, spicy finish. 1 Note

One of the more interesting of the lesser Rhone grapes, but vintners struggle to give it depth. This oneÕs got flattering red berry fruit flavors and soft acidity and tannins. Drinks dry and velvety, with a spicy finish. 1 Note
