Tight, elegant, spicy black-fruit nose. Lean, elegant, ripe fruit in the mouth, with black cherries emerging after 20 minutes of airing from beneath a layer of soft tannins. This is the perfect example of a Côte Chalonnaise red gaining popularity as Côte d’Or prices soar into orbit. Best in three to five years. 1 Note

A candy shop of a wine, all perfumes and sweet fruit. Along with the fruit, there is a juicy acidity, but also some bitterness as the tannins creep in, giving a sharp aftertaste. Screwcap. 1 Note

Almost translucent, with a mixed-spice nose that doesn't offer much fruit. It's got some strawberry and rasberry flavors, but it's also slightly sour. Milk chocolate shows up on the finish, which is otherwise overly oaky. Lacks polish. 1 Note

A nice, fairly complex Pinot Noir that shows plenty of upscale character for under twenty bucks. Dry and crisp, it has rich flavors of cherries, red currants, anise and mocha, with hints of pepper and smoke. Drink now. 1 Note
