Novelty Hill Roussanne -2007 (WE-106110)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Novelty Hill’s second release of the Stillwater Creek Roussanne tastes of peach skin and citrus, perhaps less ripe and round than the 2006, but stylish and sporting plenty of acid considering that this is a rather low acid grape. A layer of mineral underscores the finish. 1 Note

Deliciously drinkable for its soft, creamy texture and juicy flavors of peaches and cream, exotic tropical fruits, vanilla and honey. This dry wine is great all by itself. 1 Note

Juicy and ripe with rich scents of toasted almonds, Japanese pear and chamomile tea. The fruit hones in and focuses on pears and peaches, then shifts into lovely nutty flavors that liven up the mouthfeel and continue through an impressively persistent finish. 103 cases produced. 1 Note

Wellington Roussanne -2007 (WE-94380)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

As sweet as honey, with Lifesaver candy pineapple, golden apricot preserves, Meyer lemon custard pie and Asian spice flavors. Calls for very rich fare, such as scallops sautéed in butter, served with a creamy risotto. 1 Note

Morrison Lane Roussanne -2004 (WE-89667)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Warm, sharp (15.3% alcohol) and spicy, this Roussanne has a lot of bite in the mouthfeel. Sharp, edgy citrus rind flavors lead quickly into a finish that also has a bitter edge, a bit like quinine or gin. But served chilled on a warm day, it makes a fine apéritif. 1 Note

Opolo Roussanne -2006 (WE-93894)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A little too jammy, with pineapple, apricot and vanilla spice flavors. The sweetness is balanced with lemony acidity, but it’s not really a dry table wine. 1 Note

Eberle Roussanne -2005 (WE-59190)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

While everyone else is picking superripe, Eberle prefers a high- acid, lower-fruit wine. This doesn’t have particular Roussanne character as it’s too dry and citrusy. But it’s a clean wine with a brisk mouthfeel. 1 Note

Domaine de la Terre Rouge Roussanne -2004 (WE-54796)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

The winery began bottling a Roussanne only in 2001. Marching to its own distinct beat, this interesting wine is soft and full-bodied, with a creamy texture framing flavors of apricots, peaches and kiwi. It’s dry and balanced. 1 Note
