Round and full, voluptuous even, this lip-smacking Semillon blends in notes of honey and hay to expand upon its ripe peach and papaya flavors. Citrus rind completes the tangy finish. 1 Note

This Semillon has perky yellow fruit and a viscous mouthfeel; has some weight and fullness, particularly considering the variety, and the fact that it’s unoaked. Hay, honey, flowers and fresh-mown grass on the nose is the best part. 1 Note

Very green. Weedy, legumey notes on the nose are offset slightly by cream and flour. Lima bean and tart citrus notes prevail in the mouth; finishes with tart, lime-rind, stone and herb notes. 1 Note

Made, very unusually for the Douro, from Sémillon, this botrytis affected wine gives ripe dried apricot and white fig flavors, boosted by the dry core of botrytis, and finishing with acidity. Definitely unexpected, but it succeeds well. 1 Note

A beautifully ripe wine made in tiny quantities (5 barrels) in exceptional years from a small parcel of Sémillon. It’s rich and unctuous, filled with flavors of molasses and honey, spiced with dry botrytis. There’s an intense, smoky aftertaste. 1 Note

Fruity and off-dry, this is styled as a perfectly drinkworthy party wine. Serve it chilled and don’t overthink it. It’s just Sémillon; the “Blanc” seems superfluous. —P.G. 1 Note
