A bit of canned green bean/asparagus works the nose, but these aromas are not overbearing or so vegetal as to mask the wine’s green fruit character. Flavors of orange and lime are solid, wet and refreshing, while the finish is citric. A step up from the funky, disjointed 2007 SB. 1 Note

Nearly colorless as well as crisp and racy, this SB from northerly Limarí starts with snappy lime, white grapefruit and orange aromas. Reflecting its cooler origin, it is sharp as far as acidity goes, with a short, flashy finish. A little scouring but still good. Imported by Ecovalley Quality Wine Group and National Refrescos Import Company, LLC. 1 Note

Luis Felipe Edwards Sauvignon Blanc -2008 (WE-94023)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Pretty nice wine, with a good aromatic mix of green fruits, grassiness and light mineral. It’s nothing over-the-top, but it does seem like an honest wine with proper citrus, lettuce and peppery flavors. Finishes with arugula-like fresh bitterness, but overall it’s solid and not overly pushy. 1 Note

The bouquet delivers moderate citrus and snap, while the palate offers midlevel varietal flavors of lime and generic citrus. There’s a smattering of green-herb character, while the finish is peppery, light, a touch watery but fresh. Drink soon and it should elicit more smiles than frowns. 1 Note

Tropical fruit and a touch of lemon lead on this gentle white. Elegant and approachable, its combination of crisp lemon and citrus with rounded tropical fruit flavors gives it a balanced, complex edge. Soft spice and a lemon zing finish it off. 1 Note

This consistent value performer is made specially for the U.S. importer by a winery whose “name” wine is imported by someone else. Too confusing? Try this: Winery A makes wine under the Winery A label and sells it for a premium price through Importer A. Then, since it has additional wine, it bottles more under Label B and sells that through Importer B. (No, I’m not going to spill the grapes and tell you the name of the winery in question.) A slightly musky scent imparts an exotic note to the passion fruit aromas, while the grapefruity notes on the palate are pleasantly plump before turning a bit chalky on the finish. 1 Note

No Sauvignon Blanc -2005 (WE-59997)

A bit of cat pee, but not too much unless you’re sensitive to it, with richer citrus and gooseberry notes that finish dry and zesty. The unusual name refers to no oak, no malo and no cork. 1 Note
