This is an evolved and sophisticated Vino Nobile with rich concentration, dense texture and very pretty, wood-driven notes of vanilla and spice that are splashed evenly over black currants, plums and prunes. The wine exhibits harmony and balance, and although it is on the thick or gritty side, it does have the natural tannins to pair with succulent meat. 1 Note

Richly oaked, with smoke and vanilla notes dominating at this young age. But there’s also a firm core of blackberry flavors that grows in intensity and bodes well for cellaring. The mouthfeel is lush and creamy, finishing with chewy tannins. Try this blend of Sangiovese, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon in 2008. 1 Note

The first vintage for this wine, a 60-40 blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet, has yielded a rich, currant-laden wine that picks up plenty of earthy and tobacco nuances on the nose. Again, the texture is creamy-smooth, the finish chewy and firm. 1 Note

Still dark in color, albeit with some bricking evident, and still a bit tannic on the finish. Still, this is very good, combining earth and tobacco with plums and cherries. Big in the mouth, with a velvety feel, but also a touch of warmth from alcohol. Drink now or hold. 1 Note

Of the wines tasted, this is the one to drink now. It still shows some chewiness to its texture, but melds that with a smooth, satiny finish and flavors of earth, tobacco and soy. Just enough cherry fruit remains, but this needs to be drunk up. 1 Note
