Lots of ripe, forward raspberry and cherry fruit in this savory wine, with a mushroomy, funky complexity. It’s soft and likeable now for the sweet fruit and crisp acidity. 1 Note

Now that they’re no longer making only bubbly, the winery is trying to identify block selections of dry Pinot Noir. Give them some time. This Pinot is promising, showing cherry, cola and spice flavors in an elegantly silky texture. 1 Note

Great Carneros Pinot. Fabulously ripe fruity flavors range from raspberries through cherries and currants, sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet and earthy, like espresso with brown sugar. Totally dry, and silky all the way down. 1 Note

This is a good Pinot but it has some problems that keep the score limited. There’s a mulchy earthiness, a sharp, dry mintiness, that limits enjoyment of the underlying cherry flavors, and which is unlikely to age out. 1 Note

There are jammy, tutti-fruity flavors but they are deepened with plum pudding, nougat, sweet espresso and mocha, and Asian spices that tingle the palate through the long finish. All this is wrapped in silky tannins. Gorgeous stuff. 1 Note

Lots of sweet, ripe raspberry and cherry fruit in this attractive young Pinot Noir. It has a rich, spicy finish, and is balanced in crisp Carneros acidity. Delicious and savory, it’s best now. 1 Note

Nearing five years of age, this Pinot tastes fresh as a daisy. Crisp in acidity and silky in texture, it has ripe flavors of raspberries, strawberries, cherries, cola and exotic spices. Could surprise with some time in the cellar. 1 Note

Made primarily from Pinot Noir with a little Chardonnay, this has a subtle color of the first blush on a peach, and is fragrant and delicious. The fruit flavors of raspberries and cherries have a lime tinge, and the finish is dry and impressively long. Really easy to like, just filled with charm and finesse. 1 Note

The first duty of a blush bubbly is to be delicious and elegant, and this one is, despite the full-bodied flavors from a majority of Pinot Noir. The wine is dry and complex, with flavors of raspberries, cherries, limes, buttery vanilla, yeast and smoky oak. Really good, and will develop through 2013. 1 Note

Gloria Ferrer’s 2005 dry Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were both really good, so why shouldn’t this bubbly blend of them be? And so it is. Rich in raspberry, lime, vanilla cream, yeast and cinnamon spice flavors, it has a complex, silky texture, with very fine bubbles. Drink now. 1 Note
