All the generosity and opulence as well as the intense perfumes of Bonnes-Mares are found in this ripe and open wine. The pure fruit flavors dominate, rolling around the tannins, leaving ripe red fruits and acidity in equal measure. 1 Note

Structured, concentrated, a wine that shows power from both fruit and tannins. The opulent strawberry flavors are paralleled by firm, dry tannins. As the combination comes together, this will become a glorious wine. 1 Note

A dark, immensly tannic wine at this stage, this has firm, powerful dry fruit. It is still just feeling its way at this stage, a wine that can last 15–20 years at least. 1 Note

Power and spice epitomize this wine, a firm, solid structure that keeps complexity and elegance as part of the package, and that will reward long aging. It may be big, but it keeps a sense of proportion, with dark fruits balanced with fresh acidity. 1 Note

This is from vines owned by Véronique Drouhin. With a tight bite of plum, tannin and smoky wood,the wine has a young structure, the color still tinged with purple, finely balanced with fresh acidity. For aging. 1 Note

Powerful, opulent and rounded, this is a dense wine. Drouhin owns two parcels on the eastern edge of the slope of Clos de Vougeot, and the wine does show great rich swathes of plums, dry figs, chocolate and sweet jelly, balanced by firm tannins and bright, always rich acidity. An impressive wine. 1 Note

A slight disappointment, but still very good, with honey, smoke, caramel and peaches. It’s a bit over-the-top from a house known for restraint, but the superripe fruit is backed by some dry minerality. Bold and weighty, but not that long. Imported by Dreyfus, Ashby & Co. 1 Note
