Soft at first, but the density of the pine, gardenia and spice flavors emerges as the wine opens up while the lingering finish shows excellent purity of fruit. Serve with sushi. Drink now or hold three to four years for more complexity. 1 Note

Like drinking a fruit cocktail. This exceptionally pretty white is succulent and balanced, with good depth and penetrating flower notes. The broad, medium-length finish is dominated by ripe cantaloupe and green apple notes. Drink now or hold a few years. 1 Note

This is a zippy little number, with scents of white cherries and citrus that float over a bed of petroleum and fresia. The crisp, off-dry finish winds down to a lingering grapefruit note. Drink now with cod in a miso sauce or stash away for a few years. 1 Note

A solid effort, but one that lacks the brilliant focus of some of Nik Weis’s other offerings this year. This is broad and mouthfilling, oozing with honey, apple and petrol aromas and flavors that seem to lack a little focus, then pick up a bitter citrus pith note on the finish. Imported by HB Wine Merchants. 1 Note

A rich and exotic spätlese, with honeyed fruit that even contains a hint of apricot to go with the apple, melon and citrus flavors. Rather full-bodied (9% alcohol) and sweet, but remarkably finesse-filled as well, finishing long. Imported by HB Wine Merchants. 1 Note

Shows the winery’s characteristic leesy notes on the nose, but unfurls on the palate to reveal wonderfully delineated flavors of melon, white peach, honey and green apples, all held together by slaty underpinnings. It’s rich and mouthcoating without being heavy, ending on a spicy, minerally note that helps counter the wine’s sweetness. Imported by HB Wine Merchants. 1 Note

Like virtually all St. Urbans-Hof wines, this one starts off a bit sulfury, but the quality of the wine underneath is readily apparent, from its scents of slate and apple to flavors of white peach and melon. It’s generous in fruit, yet restrained in texture, featuring an almost austere minerality that balances the wine’s residual sugar. Cool and stony on the finish, this wine has a long future ahead of it. 1 Note

From a vintage not known for its supersweet selections, this wine is a revelation. Honey and bergamot notes mingle easily on the nose, while the palate unfolds to reveal layers of honey, dried apricots and orange marmalade. It’s rich, viscous and concentrated without any heaviness, with a finish that’s sweet and lingering. This should age through 2040 easily. 1 Note
