Strongly marked by bold aromas and flavors of vanilla, the fruit in this wine also shows a high-toned, Bing cherry note. Yet in the mouth, it’s full bodied, round and lushly textured, ending with plenty of intensity. Give it a chance to settle down and try it in 2011. 1 Note
Like most Tardieu Laurent wines, this is lushly textured stuff. Honey and peach notes mingle easily on the nose and in the mouth, fading out just a little too quickly on the finish. Drink now. 1 Note
Made solely from old-vine Grenache, this stands out as a horse of a different color in a flight of traditional Châteauneuf-du-Papes. It does boast a lovely suppleness and silky texture, but the aromas and flavors are strange—a sort of medicinal cherry meets boiled vegetables. 1 Note
Like all of the T-L wines, this is heavily influenced by aging in barrique, but this wine handles it well, blending cedar and vanilla with flavors of cherries jubilee. It’s full, lush and oaky—almost New World in style. 1 Note
Seems a bit overdone, with prune and chocolate notes, overly apparent alcohol and low acids. Still, it’s enjoyable for its roundness in the mouth and extremely supple tannins. 1 Note
