A Star is Born in Chile

A Star is Born in Chile

unknown_400We have all heard about Chile’s beauty and delicious wines. But our friends at the luxury travel site Indagare, have tipped us off on a new wine destination that brings everything to a whole new level: Viña Vik. Opening this month in the rustic Millahue Valley, Viña Vik is the brainchild of Alexander & Carrie Vik who are known for their art and design retreats in Uruguay.

The hotel features a floating sculptural roof of bronzed titanium inspired by the surrounding mountains, the wind, and the work of Frank Gehry and Richard Serra. There are two restaurants stressing Chilean culinary traditions, a spa and fitness center, a game room, horseback riding, mountain biking and even a vegetable garden where guests can pick their own produce for meals.

The VIK winery is part of the retreat and is a state-of-the-art building designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic, who designed the 2014 Serpentine Galleries Pavilion in London. Guests can enjoy the amazing VIK wine, which is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Merlot blend made by winemaker Patrick Valette.

We can’t wait to follow Indagare’s advice and get ourselves to Viña Vik to experience it all first hand.
