April Wine Events all around the country

bottlenotes_300x179April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring lots of great sips throughout the country.

Bottlenotes is excited to bring “Taste Around Town”, our restaurant week for wine, back to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. So, if you’re in DC, round up your friends and head out to DC's favorite restaurants and wine bars to taste great wines from the Rhone Valley.

If you aren’t able taste around DC, here are some other places to sip:

Taste of Vail, Vail, Colorado, April 8-11

taste-of-vail_01Enjoy a Mountaintop Picnic (at 10,350 feet above sea level), the 2014 Rosé Wine Debut Tasting, Wine Dinners, the American Lamb Cook-off and Aprés Ski Tasting, seminars (including the “Speed Dating with the Heartbreak Grape”) at the 25th Annual Taste of Vail. The event culminates in a Grand Tasting and Auction.

Brenner's on the Bayou Annual Wine Fest, Houston, Texas, April 11

logo-beerfest_120Enjoy over 50 wines from over two-dozen wineries as well as entertaining live music from Music by Midstream, and food pairings from Brenner’s Steakhouse, Vic and Anthony’s, Grotto, and, of course, Brenner's on the Bayou.

SF Vintners Market, San Francisco, California, April 11-12

Most wineries will be selling bottles of the wines you are tasting on the spot. The event features a Main Room, a Reserve Room with wines priced at $50 a bottle and up, and a Cult Lounge with wines priced at $100 a bottle and up.

A Roll in the Shea”, Newberg, Oregon, April 18

15_arollintheshea11x17poster_120Penner-Ash Wine Cellars will bring together 10 wineries at their “Roll in the Shea” comparative tasting to explore the varied expressions of Pinot Noir made from the Shea Vineyard. Besides a walk-around tasting, there will also be two “Defining Shea” seated seminars during which five producers will pour additional tastes and discuss those wines.

Spark Ventures 7th Annual Wine Tasting, Chicago, Illinois, April 13

Pinot in the City – New York, New York, April 14

Come taste Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and more from Pinot pioneers, up-and-coming hipster producers, and everything in between. Enjoy Pinot-friendly hors d'oeuvres from City Winery.

Mt. Veeder Spring Wine Tasting, San Francisco, California, April 16

mtvedeer_01Taste & Purchase on site the rare wines from 28 Mt. Veeder AVA wineries. This is one of the very few times you can taste Mt. Veeder wines in one place, many of which are very difficult to find. Enjoy food pairings with assorted artisan cheeses, charcuterie, seasonal fruit, nuts, olives and Model Bakery breads.

Appellation St. Helena bASH 2015, St. Helena, California, April 18

New this year is a raffle for an “ASH Instant Wine Cellar”.

Great Grapes! Wine & Food Festival, Cary, North Carolina, April 18

greatgrapes_01Sip and savior 220 wines from 20 North Carolina wineries and celebrate the rich heritage of North Carolina vines with live music, food, crafts and gourmet items.

The festive also features a free kid’s area. A portion of the proceeds benefit Spirit of Hope Children’s Foundation.

Celebrate Earth Day in Green Valley Sebastopol, California, April 19

ticketevent_207_120Enjoy an outdoor, “eat, drink and be green” festival with wines from nine Green Valley wineries, food by Guest Chefs Daniel Kedan and Marianna Gardenhire of Backyard in Forestville, and a short talk by Kevin Jorgeson, who free climbed the 3,000-foot Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite.

Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux Wine Tasting, New York, New York, April 20

Austin Food and Wine Festival, Austin, Texas, April 24-26

fest_120The more than 40 events include: A Taste of Texas, Rock Your Taco, Sips and Sweets, Feast Under the Stars, Interactive Fire Pits helmed by an all-star lineup of chefs, and Hands-On Grilling Demonstrations. Over 100 food, wine, and beverage exhibitors are participating.

Stags Leap District “Vineyard to Vintner”, Napa, California, April 24-26

logoAt their annual “V2V”, the Stags Leap District is offering Dinners at the Wineries with Special Library Wines, “Back Stage” Winery Open Houses (many at wineries that are not open to the public), and the “Appellation Collection Sneak Preview” brunch prepared by Michelin-starred Meadowood Resort.

The event features many limited-production, family-owned wineries pouring small-lot wines that are not widely distributed.
