While the Napa Valley community continues to recover from the South Napa earthquake, the unalterable spirit of harvest presses on. It’s been another spectacular growing season and the 2014 Napa Valley fine wine grape harvest is nearly done following two months of fast and furious picking, often at night and in early morning hours.
Many winemakers are saying this was one of the earliest harvests in recent memory and are noting exceptional flavor profiles and vintage potential.
The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) trade association has been chronicling this year’s harvest at napavintners.com through weekly reports, a listing of winery harvest events and continuous social media feeds. Website visitors can also test their knowledge with a fun Harvest IQ Quiz.
Part of this year’s celebration of the harvest spirit is the NVV’s distribution of “Cultivating Excellence: Harvest 2014” t-shirts to local vineyard and winery employees and trade partners around the world. Commemorative t-shirts are an annual harvest tradition in the wine industry.
To spread the Napa Valley harvest spirit even further, the NVV is giving away an additional 200 of these “Cultivating Excellence: Harvest 2014” t-shirts to wine lovers. Click here to enter the random drawing before midnight on October 3, 2014.
