Crates, Counter Space and Cool Stuff Reused as Gifts

fathersdayIf you’ve already bought your father every golf gadget known to man, maybe you should switch to stocking his life with wine related gifts. Since he’s the dad, he’s probably got a fancier wine collection than you can afford too, so consider wine furniture this Father’s Day.

Here are three great wine furniture finds.

Custom is Cool
A company called Le Petit Monster out of New York makes coffee tables, night-stands and end tables out of salvaged wine crates and industrial hardware. They let customers choose the details—which type of wine, which type of finish and hardware--then create one-of-a-kind tables that reflect the owner’s wine tastes. The tables start at $175.

Assembly Required
This small company sells kits to build tables and trinkets out of recycled oak barrels. They offer half-barrel occasional tables or full-top side tables, among other things. This gift is double-barreled-giving of course because handy dad gets a do-it-yourselfer and a cool table in the end.

Tasting Room Chic
This is a perfect tasting table and a great collector’s item. It’s a barrel with a glass top. Dad can place all kinds of cool wine-find trinkets he’s collected over the years under the glass for conversation, but the function of this table is great for visitors tasting from his cellar. Most are Bordeaux Oak recycled, but different barrel choices, finishes and sizes are available. Prices vary, but the 36-inch in diameter full barrel is $655.
