19th century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli once said, “Man is only great when he acts from passion.” Clearly the same is true for women. Bottlenotes co-founder Kim Donaldson is lucky enough to have two strong passions: wine and sports.
Before she was old enough to like wine, Kim was obsessed with sports. She skated, skied and played tennis as a kid, ran track and played squash through high school, and was on a national champion squash team at Yale. Today, she is a rabid Rangers and Knicks fan, and enjoys skiing, boxing and squash.
Recently, Kim started Excelle Sports, a digital destination for girls’ and women’s sports, offering news, features, profiles, scores and standings, and a curated shop. Just like when Bottlenotes started for wine lovers, Excelle is the first of its kind. Believe it or not, 40% of U.S. athletes are female, yet only 4% of media coverage is of women’s sports. Excelle is out to change that by harnessing the passion of female athletes and sports fans the same way Bottlenotes did for wine fans.
Excelle Sports will officially launch in January, but you can get early access to the site in late November by signing up now at excellesports.com. So whether you are an athlete, have a daughter or friend who is an athlete, or are just a women’s sports fan, you can be one of the first to be a part of something really exciting.
