Our monthly events calendar is back from an extended winter hibernation with a special extended May Events Calendar. The flood of summertime wine events is officially underway. There are great sips all over the county from New York to New Orleans and LA, San Francisco and even Nebraska.


Elevating Zinfandel, Los Angeles, California, May 5


WineLA has teamed up with 15 of the worlds’ best Zinfandel Producers to bring you "Elevating Zinfandel" showcasing the "Crème de la crème" of the Zinfandel community. Meet the wine producers and enjoy breads and snacks provided by La Brea Bakery Café. VIP event includes Exclusive Tasting of older vintage wines.


Toast Nebraska Wine Festival, Ashland, Nebraska, May 6-7


Fans of Nebraska wine can raise a glass at the third annual "Toast Nebraska" wine festival. Sample over 130 vintages from 22 Nebraska wineries. The weekend will also include live music, unique food and wine pairings, and an amateur wine making competition.


Uncorked: Chicago Wine Festival, Chicago, Illinois, May 7


The Inaugural Uncorked: Chicago wine festival will feature over 50 wineries, live music, gourmet food trucks, a photo booth, champagne bar and a fun day to sip and savor with friends. A portion of the proceeds go to Step Up Women’s Network.


The Chardonnay Symposium, Pismo Beach, California, May 12-14


Winemakers, sommeliers, media, foodies and wine enthusiasts gather to taste, explore, learn and enjoy this veritable and often misunderstood grape. Events include a grand tasting, seminars such as "What’s Oak Got To Do With It?", and "Hone Your Chardonnay Blind-Tasting Skills", the "La Paulée Dinner and Vintners Awards Ceremony" and the "Pét-Nat, Sparkling Wine & Oysters Gala".


Seven Percent Solution Tasting, San Francisco, California, May 13


Enjoy wines from 25+ wineries at this celebration of obscure grape varietals (the 7% of Northern California wineries that are planted something other than the eight major grape varietals). Taste wines such as Trousseau Gris, Colombard , Tinta Cao and Ribolla Gialla.


Santa Lucia Highlands Gala, Salinas, California, May 14


More than 40 wineries will be pouring their best Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah at Mer Soleil Winery. For many of the artisan vintners, this is their one public tasting of the year. Enjoy food from several of the region’s best chefs, and VIP events such as "Caviar and Bubbly" and "Library Chardonnay and Cheese".


Taste of Greece, New York, New York, May 18


Taste wines from nearly 50 Greek wineries and sample food from 6 of NYC’s Greek restaurants. Discover why the oldest culture of wine is now a hot emerging wine region. Enjoy live music from Irini Haridou, Nikos Plios and their band, just arrived from Athens, Greece. All proceeds will benefit Friends of Boroume to help feed the needy of Greece.


Garagiste Festival: Northern Exposure, Oakland, California, May 19


Enjoy more than 100 different handcrafted wines from over 20 varietals poured by 32 hard-to-find, cutting-edge commercial artisan ‘garagiste’ wineries from Northern California, Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County. Proceeds benefit the Garagiste Festival Scholarship Fund at Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture Department.


West of West Wine Festival, San Francisco, California, May 19


The West Sonoma Coast Vintners host West of West (WOW) which offers the opportunity to taste pinot noirs and chardonnays, as well as other varietals from some of the leading winemakers and proprietors of the West Sonoma Coast, including the new "Fort Ross – Seaview" application. Many of these wines are extremely small production and very hard to find.


Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival, Philo, California, May 20-22


Events include: a casual BBQ at Pennyroyal Farm where guests are urged to bring a bottle of wine to share, a Pinot Noir Technical Conference Winemakers Dinners, Winery Open Houses and the Grand tasting with over 55 producers from around California showcasing their Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs with a silent auction benefiting the Anderson Valley Health Center.


Rioja Wine & Tapas Festival, Los Angeles, California, May 21


ECome celebrate Spain's famous wine region and culinary culture, the Rioja Wine & Tapas Festival will feature over 40 top winemakers and 25 notable U.S. chefs. Come experience everything Rioja has to offer, including creative tapas, a gallery ofjamones, morcilla from top chefs, a cheese cave, reserve wine tastings, seminars, and more.


Lincoln Park Wine Festival, Chicago, Illinois, May 21-22


Sample from over 100 wines from wineries from the US, France, Italy, Australia, Argentina and more. Learn from sommeliers and brand ambassadors. Enjoy live music lineup, food-wine pairings, and fine artists. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Wrightwood Neighbors Association.


Brooklyn Uncorked, New York, New York, May 26


Celebrate ten years of Brooklyn Uncorked. Enjoy award-winning wines from New York State wineries and nibble on delicious food from some of the most popular restaurants in Brooklyn and Manhattan. If you like what you taste, select bottles of wine will be available for purchase.


New Orleans Wine and Food Experience, New Orleans, Louisiana, May 26-28


Events include the "Royal Street Stroll" where Royal Street becomes a wine tasting area, a "Vinola Tasting" of high-end wines, the Big Gateaux Show, and 2 days of Grand Tastings and seminars.
