Purple Heart Wines Honor Our Nation’s Bravest

Purple Heart Wines Honor Our Nation’s Bravest

We don’t need a holiday to raise a glass and honor the brave men and women who fight everyday to keep us safe.

But the wine in that glass tastes even better when part of the proceeds go directly to help them.

That’s the spirit behind Purple Heart Wines, a new charitable effort created by C. Mondavi & Family as a tribute to our nation’s servicemen and women.

Giving back to our service men and women is a true area of passion for Mondavi, who’s co-founder, Peter Mondavi, Sr. proudly served in World War II. Ray Coursen, a former Vietnam Veteran, 30-year winemaker, and lifelong friend of the Mondavis, was selected as winemaker for the project.

The limited production of the 2013 Purple Heart wine is 84% merlot, with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot making up the difference.

Best of all, Purple Heart Wines will make an annual contribution to the Purple Heart Foundation, which supports programs that treat post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, help veterans with job training, education, service dogs, etc.

But regardless of the wine you pour in your glass, don’t wait for a specific holiday to honor America’s heroes.

Do it now.
