The Best Wine Bars in Your City: Los Angeles

142957-424x283-red-wine_02_01We’ve found five of our favorites in L.A. that offer it all--interesting wine, great food and knowledgeable staff.

Best Neighborhood Bar: Pour Haus Wine Bar: Locals come for the carefully chosen wine list, tasty snacks and affordable prices. They stay for the relaxed atmosphere and sense of community.

Best Romantic Bar: Mignon: Impress your date with words like Old World, rustic and artisanal. Or, you know, just order some Sherry and cheese and enjoy the evening. It’s all possible at the cozy Mignon.

Most Eclectic Wine List: Bacaro L.A: With a list so esoteric and ever-changing that they don’t even print a wine list, you know you’re in for some fun. The daily chalkboard wine menu is focused on small producers making terroir-driven wines all over the world. Order some chicchetti (small Italian plates), some wine you’ve never heard of, and settle in.

Best Bang for Your Buck: Bottle Rock Culver City: Bottle Rock’s daily $5 per glass happy hour is pretty fantastic, but the kicker is their buy-back program. Purchase a bottle, drink at least 2 glasses, and then sell the bottle back to the bar, where it goes on the board as a by-the-glass selection for others to enjoy.

Best Bar for Novices: Barbrix: Feeling a little intimidated by wine, or by life? Stop by Barbrix, where the wine is varied and affordable, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
