Happy Canada Day to our neighbors to the north. On this July 1st we celebrate that nation’s contribution to our maple syrup needs, our love of Canadian bacon, and of course, the production of some world-recognized wines.
Some of those wineries are owned by Canadian stars: Comedian Dan Aykroyd; the Great One, Wayne Gretzky; and now, James Cameron, the creative genius behind the Titanic, Avatar, and Terminator mega-hit movies.
Last February, Cameron bought Beaufort Vineyards. Located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia on the west coast of Canada, the winery has a note on its website that reads: “Due to our limited production, we tend to sell out of many of our wines within a few weeks, sometimes within hours of their release.”
Kinda like a James Cameron movie, eh?
In past years, the winery’s shirazes, cabernets, pinot gris’ and other varietals have been recognized with various international medals and awards. But if Cameron’s movies are any indication of his magic touch, he just might turn up the volume on all the accolades.
