We here at The Sip are so thankful for you, our loyal readers and fellow wine lovers.
We love your participation, your insight and your wine picks.
And while we also are so grateful for our friends, family, and good health, here are a few more things that our team is thankful for.
Our design & social maven Marcella is “extremely thankful for oversized sweaters as winter approaches Chicago.” (We are based in Chicago, by the way.)
She is also grateful for Cabernet Sauvignon. (Can you blame her?)
“The Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 is one of my faves!” Musician Dave Matthews will be grateful too since, when he is not at his day-job as the lead singer of The Dave Matthews Band, he makes the wine.
Bryan, our tech guru is thankful for “warm summers and hitting the trail with my dog.” And he’d “be even more thankful if we could get a milder winter!” (Noticing a theme?)
And while our illustrious tech dude is a whiskey guy, if pushed to pick a wine, he suggested the Apothic Red, a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfect choice for every day, or when the whiskey runs out.
As assistant to the editor, John is thankful for his family, “even though their idea of hosting includes a box of Franzia and taking every opportunity to turn the conversation to me and my ability to pick the wrong women.” Hmm.
He is also thankful for his cat, Peepers, “who does not judge me when I open my second bottle.”
And that second bottle would be a Gewurtztraminer from Hefrich. “Hey, I’m German and they bring me home!”
Our head honcho Dave is still thankful for the ability to DVR his favorite TV shows. (If you remember the days when we were forced to sit through commercials, you’d be grateful too.)
Dave is a big Côtes-du-Rhône fan and Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2012
is one of his top picks. It’s a blend of a bunch of grapes from the Rhone Valley in southern France, but Grenache and Syrah are usually the dominant ones.
And I am so thankful that I get paid to drink wine, that I get to work with these great people every day and that I can buy store-bought dinners. (Sorry kids.)
What are you thankful for?!
Cheers! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
