Paul Hobbs Winery Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Winery Story

Paul Hobbs' fascination with vineyards began when his family first planted wine grapes on their upstate New York farm in 1969. For 15 years,... (more...) Paul honed his craft while working for several prominent wineries on both sides of the equator. Then, in 1991, he started his own winery in Sonoma County. The winery specializes in producing small lot, handcrafted vineyard designated wines. Hobbs is recognized as an innovator in California for his focus on native yeast fermentation and his natural approach to winemaking. Paul Hobbs currently produces four different Chardonnays grown in the top appellations of Sonoma County, and Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from outstanding vineyards in Carneros and the Coombsville area of Napa.

Tasting Note

Deep, red-blue color. Floral notes of lavender and rose petal intertwined with red plum and licorice aromas. Rich, ripe, pure fruit flavors ... (more...)are balanced by a crisp acidity typical of the 2000 Napa Valley vintage. This is a medium bodied wine with good focus and dusty tannins that unfold into a long finish.
